I'm going to test this site to see if it would be a good spot to display the story of my summer 2008 project-- the Surrey!
I'll be posting most of this after the fact, so the dates may be a little off, but you should get the idea.
We picked up the surrey in April 2008 from a beach rental spot that was going out of business. We took a trip to the San Clemente (actually San Juan Capistrano) beach where the rental shop was located- right on the beach. The asking price seemed pretty good, but once we saw the surrey in person, we decided to skip it. It was just too old and rusty and beat up. After thinking it over for a while, and offering a lower price, I decided that it would be a fun summer project to fix up and restore the bike. We went up again, and brought home the surrey! We originally named it Sam, but later decided that we should pick something that better suited its Italian incipience. Meet Guiseppe "Seppe" the Surrey!
